DANAÉ and the Villa Adriana

In Greek mythology, Danae is the mother of Perseus, the daughter of Acrisios (King of Argos) and Eurydice (daughter of Lacede).

Her father, Acrisios, imprisons her in a tower when an oracle predicts that he will be killed by his grandson. Zeus, however, manages to enter the tower in the form of a golden rain that fell on the princess.
